To Tilicho Lake:

We're back at work after four days off. Lexi and I hiked up to Tilicho Lake at 5000m elevation. We had perfectly clear weather. The approach included traversing several kilometers of scree slopes with some rockfall hazard.
Today the clinic is slow. It's been europeans with chapped lips and gastroenteritis. Yak meat for dinner tonight. Our next hike will go to Thorung La Pass at 5400m elevation.

  1. gorgeous! thanks!
was it a mult-day hike? i'm curious about the tent and what kind of food you're carrying with you. peanut toffee crunch or mint chocolate chip?
nothing's happening in nyc--the exhibition opens in 2 weeks. i'm totally bored with my road bike, but don't have time to spend on cross racing until november. the big news is that i took out my roller skis for the first time in 2 years and didn't fall down.
i miss you and am happy to see that you're having a wonderful and interesting time!
    xoxo

  2. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! What a great place to celebrate your 12th anniversary. Do you remember the Walt Whitman quote from your wedding program? How true is has become:

    Shine! shine! shine!
Pour down your warmth, great Sun!
    While we bask—we two together.

    Two together!
Winds blow South, or winds blow North,
Day come white, or night come black,
Home, or rivers and mountains from home,
Singing all time, minding no time,
    While we two keep together.

Hope you saved some Jamison's for a toast, and chin, chin from both of us!

  3. Happy Wedding Anniversary!!!

I bought you an anniversary present from the Boston Museum of Art but I'll wait to mail it until you're back in Bozeman. I went for lunch today at "Everest on Grand". Goat was on the buffet I didn't try it. Betsy said it was tasty but full of bones.

I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed your 3 day hike in those huge mountain. I'm also happy that its you and not me that is doing all that hiking.

    Keep on having fun!!!

  4. More spectacular pics! Just back from a gorgeous hike on M-hill with the dogs. Fall has returned - 70+ today compared with snow and cold last weekend. Both dogs are now sleeping on the rug. Pat is filling the counters with tomatoes and hot peppers for another round of salsa-making tonight. He bought tons of peppers at the farmers market and even a few habeneros. Should be spicy.

    take care.

  6. Whoa,
Happy belated birthday and anniversary. I have been negligent on my postings to you both. Sounds like a fantastic experience together, nice save on the MI. Can't imagine what to do with no EKG, having just taken my ACLS course. Talk about applying your knowledge in the field. We will toast you on Saturday nite at Megan's birthday gathering. We will see Broad Comedy. Hugs and kisses from Bozeman
