We're still alive, at the end of day four of our hike in.
We've been hiking up a steep gorge; walking about 3500' per day.
Lexi and I had a run in with a seven foot cobra. It may be the most exciting wildlife encounter of my life.
One member of our group got sick, so we had a short day in hopes that she recovered, but we left her and her partner and are now a days hike ahead of them. Our porters are also a day ahead of us... and they're all carrying 90 pounds on a tump line (head strap)
We'll be at Manang after two more days hiking, and will have better computer access then.

I want to hear more about the cobra experience.
ReplyDeleteWell at least cobra's don't keep sucking your blood.
ReplyDeleteI still think the leeches sound worse -- you can't shoot them and they can suck at both ends.
where's the photo?
ReplyDeleteWhats the big deal? I thought Lexi was used to big snakes, Martin?

hi martin and lexi, you probably have just gotten to manang by now. sounds like the adventures are only beginning. yep, i'm still pregnant and yep, we are back in bozeman. they can have san diego if they want... all is well in the hood. dick built a big jack ass fence. i think he is trying to imitate that walled city from the bible. ellie and dusty are doing well. there's been a bear around the hood gorging on apples, we have yet to see him though. love, danielle
ReplyDeleteMartin, glad your on your way there. your house looks great, however you're really missed here. Could use your help getting used to my borrowed 1300 harley. remember to put your big snake back in your pants so you don;t get leeches on it!
Love, Tuli (el padre)
P.S. your pictures of himalayas look awsome, we hope you can send more exciting photos.

3,500 feet a day? Blisters? Can't wait to hear the cobra story. Brian and I are settling back into the Bozo rhythym. Hard to adjust to the whole work thing again. I was getting used to the eat/bike/eat/sleep schedule. Take me back to France! Have fun, watch for snakes and tend to those blisters.
