From Cobras to Snow Leopards!

This week I climbed a peak with the uninspiring name "4890" to the west of Manang. The summit offered spectacular views in all directions: south to Annapurna, north to Chulu Peak, west to Manang 4500 feet below. If I only had a paraglider! On the descent I was treated to a meeting with a Snow Leopard! I saw it cruising the tundra near a flock of Blue Sheep. Similar to my mountain lion sighting, the leopard disappeard as soon as it saw us.
Today the lecture was attended by about 4o people and was well received.
This morning Lexi and I visited a nearby water powered grain mill and were able to watch two women grind buckwheat into flour with a very ingenous mill.

  1. So glad to see you're putting your natural teaching abilities to use...
We are getting ready for Halloween. Alice will be a witch (like the one from the wizard of oz), and wear my old costume.
    Keep on enjoying your adventure.

  2. Ahhh! Living the high life with blue skies everywhere! Looks like no problems with altitude. It's grey and threatening to rain or snow as we slide into "slack" season. I'm really enjoying the vicarious life through your blog, keep up the adventure for us slackers!

  3. What a thrill to see a snow leopard. You really are having great adventures. I appreciate looking at the pictures of the spectacular scenery and the native people.

Today, I heard a man from 3M talk about their stategies for innovation. It sound like they are looking to employ people like you, Martin.
So little time, so many opportunities.

The two of you look so happy in your mountain environment.
